Lions Clubs and Gates Foundation collaboration raise a staggering US$15 million in fight against measles

The Measles & Rubella Partnership would like to congratulate the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) for their remarkable efforts in raising US$10 million towards helping to eliminate the disease.

In October 2011, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation challenged Lions to raise US$10 million for measles. To help Lions in this effort, the Gates Foundation donated $1 for every $2 raised by the One Shot, One Life: Lions Measles Initiative. This is a total matching contribution of US$5 million, the largest single donation in Lions history. Their outstanding dedication to the cause through tireless fundraising efforts, social mobilization and advocacy has now raised a collective total of US$15 million.

One dollar will provide one vaccine to one child – and will give that child the chance to live a healthy life.
